The Challenge

A leading middle market private equity firm purchased a top designer and manufacturer of custom molded fiberglass in late 2008 located in Washington State. In 2015, the same private equity group acquired a similar sized Pennsylvania-based contract manufacturer of large thermo-formed plastic and fiberglass reinforced plastic components.  Both CEOs of the two companies were retiring and the private equity firm (who previously had engaged Cameron Carmichael on multiple successful searches) retained our firm to recruit a world class CEO to merge the companies, provide strategic direction and operational expertise, as well as lead an aggressive acquisition and associated integration growth strategy.

The Strategy

Our focus was a very “rifle” approach targeting executives who have had full P&L responsibility, with strong track records of growing composite manufacturing organizations with a variety of customer focus, both military and commercial.

The Results

We successfully recruited a proven leader who had a long track record of growth at various publically traded and private equity companies. In his previous role he led the growth of the company’s Americas business from $250M to $916M in revenue. In 2015, the recent merger of the two companies garnered the M&A Deal of the Year at the 14th Annual M&A Advisor Awards. The firm was chosen from over 690 participating companies to receive the award.
